The mini album was recorded at my home studio over a two and a half week period in June 2020 and focuses on long tonalities that gradually alter in harmonic colour and shape. Each piece is an attempt at fusing the fragile acoustic of bass clarinet with synthetic sounds generated by electronic instruments, tape machines and samplers. Most of the durations follow natural breathing exercises and occasionally use extended circular breathing patterns.

Dream Scenario was worked on separately using an improvisation given to me by Phil Durrant playing thumb piano before erasing Phil's original recording completely. It's presented here as a response, rather than as a reworking, of the original. A different version of this track appears on Linear Obsessional's Self Isolating Congregation project in a completely altered form and in collaboration with Longstone.

I am new to the music of Alex Ward. But I stumbled upon this album and was intrigued. So glad I bought it. He is obviously an advanced player with a lot of technique. Like most great artists though none of that ends up mattering. These three songs made me chuckle. with joy. In a way I do not generally expect from this type of music. The last song had me on the edge of my seat. The space between the sounds is engaging and builds suspense. This is definitely worth adding to your collection. liclon
